Character’s name: Alex Pierce
Character’s age: 21
Character’s physical appearance: Alex is an unusually short person (4 ft 9), which used to bother him greatly when he was younger, but as he grew older he embraced it as part of himself and grew much more confident because of it. It still bothers him every so often (usually around a girl he likes), but usually he doesn't let it show when that does happen. He has icy blue eyes and messy, lighter brown hair that he tends to let grow longer.
Character's Personality: Alex currently lives with two other roommates as they all go through college. He is in his fifth and hopefully final year and is majoring in music education. His current goal is to be a band instructor and director for a high school, though he would not say no to teaching choir, directing the glee club, or even giving one-on-one instruction on the instruments he is proficient in. (Which would be the trumpet [he played in high school], sax, and drums. He struggles with stringed instruments.) Alex also is not naturally trusting. He is usually initially wary, and does not have much faith in people until it has been well-proved. Alex also has a deep scar on his left leg from when he was younger and had an accident involving a bonfire; since then he has been prone to avoid large fires. He is the middle child of three brothers.
Two paragraph sample post:
It wasn't easy to focus on schoolwork, even when it was something he liked. His student job gave him time to work on homework while he was "working" at the school's computer lab, but "working" turned into playing on facebook and stumbleupon, not researching junk about Kant or Freud. Why they had him taking another English class-- much less a philosophical one-- was beyond him, but for their insistence for students to be well-rounded or whatever. Alex was already in his fifth year, a year behind. He was more than itching to get out. Only, the itching made it harder to buckle down so that he could get out. But for now he was stuck working as the lab moderator. And there wasn't much to moderate, but to make sure no one unplugged the Macs and walked away with them. Or something to that affect.
Alex sighed a little and opened a Word document, typing his name and the professor's name at least. Then his mouse drifted back to Facebook, and he opened up a chat window. The rest of Alex's work time was spent talking with five people about going out to eat somewhere and then heading to the concert tonight. Granted, it would mean a longer time working on this paper of his, but maybe he could at least have more initiative to buckle down and finish at least the research then.
