Current username: My tiny Mustard
Character’s name: Hideo Aidou
Character’s approx. age: Early to mid 40's
Character’s physical appearance: His coloring and face shows his heritage to be Native American and Japanese; his skin is darker than most yet distinctly Japanese, and he is a bit taller than the average Japanese - about 5'10" - with a strong but not hulky build.
Character's personality: He is a very emotional being but tends to keep his cool around people outside his family. He has a habit of going into a pep talk that is honestly more to reassure himself than to aid the listener. Hideo has been known to laugh in the face of a serious situation, not because he avoids the seriousness, but because thatis his normal reaction to a tense mood in conversation or interaction.
Sample post:
So, Freyachan had finally had enough. She was the sort, he remembered well, that went crazy over what she couldn't control. Always. And, since their son had stayed in America longer than expected, Hideo had found himself in the situation of having to talk her out of going over there after Kagayaki – seeing as she could barely speak English, much less interact with Americanswhen she was upset and looking for her son. And the only way to accomplish his goal would be to reassure her that the boy was just fine. Seeing as he had nocontact with Kagayaki's friends from his years of absence – that would keep coming back to pull his feet out from under him, wouldn't it? – , Hideo's only option was to suggest going there himself. Of course, he didn't mind the idea of going back to America. He'd been absent of the country far longer than he'd ever been away from his family. Supposedly, pure Native American – Cherokee or Choctaw, or something like that; he couldn't remember exactly – was half of his bloodline, the other half being what he could only assume was fully Japanese. The real tricky thing about going to America to see his son, would be his son.
Because his son still hadn't forgiven him. Believable, completely believable. But when Hideo was putting out his best efforts to make amends, to only be shoved away... it was hard. Not that he was the kind of man who was afraid of rejection, but it wore down on even the best of people. Especially the ones that got so easily heated about certain things. For the most part, he seemed calm, but behind the protection of his own home, Hideo's more emotional – dramatic, even – side showed. That had done far more harm than good with Kagayaki, who wasn't the sort that took emotional honesty as a form of trust. Even from someone who was doing their best to show they only wanted to be better.
'Everyone makes mistakes... and we can't be afraid of them. Even if he pushes me farther away, it would have been a much worse move to not come. As much as it worries me, as much as can go wrong, the fact is that Kagayaki and Ineedthis chance to make amends. We need to have no other choice but to get along, we need it to be that Freyachan can't come between us and solve it for us. We need to see how alike we are and learn how to use that to our advantage. We need to see our weaknesses and learn how to express that we love each other anyway. Getting started is the hardest part... it'll only get easier from here, won't it?'
Hideo sighed, adjusting his prescription sunglasses – he couldn't do without his corrective lenses and has splurged on these; they had probably saved his life more times than he could have known – and staring up at the hotel that Kagayaki had begrudgingly given Hideo the name of. It had taken much more work to get the room number – especially because Hideo knew how hard it must have been for Kagayaki to admit he couldn't see it very well – but it had been worth it. Because, here he was.
He parked the car he'd rented – knowing Kagayaki definitely had no vehicle sent chilling memories back into Hideo's mind – , Hideo made his way over to the door. Taking a breath and releasing it without opening his mouth, he knocked on the door strongly and put his hands in his pockets. Unknowingly, he reached up to rub the back of his neck, trying to ignore his nervousness.
'What if he just tells me to go away? Will I be able to face myself if I walk away, so I don't get angry? No, because, then what will I tell Freyachan? No. I can't give up. He's my son. He's worth it. I won't let myself get scared. I'm no expert, but no one is. You learn as you go, you learn from your mistakes. And if you don't make any, how can you learn from them, right? That's what Chacha would have said. I must learn to be a father like he was, that's the only way I'm going to succeed.'
