Erin Spenser
"I'll fight you, Chance" Erin teased, copping a phony attitude. "You wanna take this outside?"
"Ooooh...just bring it, cupcake. I can take you anytime, anywhere!" He shook his fists like he was about to sock her one, making Erin laugh in spite of herself. "I'll take you out, boy!"
Disgruntled protests came from fellow patrons nearby, and Erin lowered her voice in a half-hearted, amused apology. "Oh, sorry!" She giggled, nudging Chance with an impish grin lit up by the flash of light on the screen.
Chance brushed off their reaction breezily. "Losers, all of them, so whatever..."
Erin nodded exaggeratedly, watching the opening minutes of the movie between invading the snacks Chance had split with her. She kept taking two skittles in her hand, between her finger and thumb and squishing them together until they caved and then eating them. Then she started trying it with the M&Ms. Only then, whichever one broke first was eaten first. Like a survival show, but with candy. And no stupid script.
"You know..." Chance called to her softly, snapping Erin's attention back to him. "I actually need to find someone for awhile... I'm having trouble with Liv..."
"Hmm?" Erin said--or sounded, her mouth full of a Reese's cup, half trying to see Chance but half still watching the movie.
"She's so complicated, you know?"
"Hm? What?" she said when she could talk again. "Liv? I don't think she's complicated... Oooh, hey, give me some sunflower seeds!" Erin whispered excitedly, holding out her hand to him. "Please?"
Chance was taking the seeds in his mouth and staring intently at some guy down below them. Erin made herself suppress the laughter as she realized what he was doing. He hit the guy dead on, who turned around completely clueless. She had to clamp her hands hard over her mouth to keep the sound down. "Game on..." Chance said, and Erin removed one hand to refuse the challenge, still trying hard not to laugh too loud.
Finally, when she could control the giggles enough, Erin hissed gleefully, "Cha-ance!" She was going to protest that chucking tiny bits of food at unsuspecting strangers' heads was a her and Yukito thing, but changed her mind at the last minute. "Fine! You have to give me more, though." She smirked and held out her hand.

Chance Savege
The movie droned on in high-speed retro graphics, booming around them as cars flew off down the street with neon blue flashes. Chance looked over at Erin, who was only half-watching the film. The rest of her attention was on slowly torturing the candy until they broke under the pressure and imploded. He could have commented on the similarities between that and the ancient torture method of pressing people until death, but instead just sent her a smile and a quiet, "You know... I actually need to find someone for awhile... I'm having trouble with Liv..."
"Hmm?" Erin said--or sounded, her mouth full of a Reese's cup, distracted and being extremely cute about it all the way around. He smirked, and reached over to take the other Reese's out of the package, blithely slipping it away from her before she could catch him.
"She's so complicated, you know?" He shoved the candy into his mouth in one bite, sitting back into the theater seat with a seemingly contented sigh and a shoulder raise.
"Hm? What?" she said when she could talk again. Chance wondered if she had been listening at all. She didn't seem to be taking the bait very well. "Liv? I don't think she's complicated... Oooh, hey, give me some sunflower seeds!" Erin whispered excitedly, holding out her hand to him. "Please?"
He wanted to tell her in a childish manner that no, he would not share the sunflower seeds until she paid him some long overdue attention. After all, how was a guy supposed to chill with his mates if they actually tried to pay attention to a film they were watching together? Sheesh...maybe her foxy boyfriend doesn't like making out at the movies or something and broke her of the nasty and awesome habit? Well, crap... Reluctantly, he dropped a couple of lonely seeds into her hand. Then in silence, he shoved a few seeds in his mouth, carefully crunching apart the exterior of the seed with his teeth and tongue in combination, enjoying the bitter salty taste for the brief moments before lame fiber-taste came in, then lined himself up for a delicious shot. With a little sound like a blowdart escaping for its victim, Chance shot the broken shell down at a guy down in front of them, hitting him dead on. I still have my sacred touch. He turned to Erin with an evil smirk as the oblivious man below looked around stupidly for the source of his little sting. “Game on...” Chance told Erin, who was struggling to suppress her boisterous laughter.
Finally, when she could control the giggles enough, Erin hissed gleefully, "Cha-ance! Fine! You have to give me more, though." She smirked and held out her hand. Glad to have a little of my Erin back, at least. He took the bag and dropped a small pile into her palm, the crinkling of the plastic bag annoying other patrons and suddenly combined with the sound of several seeds hitting the ground. “Aw, shoot..” He frowned and struggled to keep the seed distribution under control, taking more for himself and lining up more potential victims. Through a mouthful of seeds, Chance leaned over toward Erin, “If I win, can I have one kiss with cute Asian?” He hoped she could understand him through the seeds. If not, his mischievous smirk should give her a general idea.

"Hm? What?" He'd said something about Liv when Erin had been distracted by the movie, the candy, and the candy wrapper combined. At least, that's what she thought he'd said... "Liv? I don't think she's complicated... Oooh, hey, give me some sunflower seeds!" she whispered excitedly, holding out her hand to him. "Please?"
Chance hesitated, then dropped a couple tiny seeds into her hand, making Erin shoot him a half-serious glare in the dark. "Heey... Cheapskate." She stuck her tongue out at him as Chance horded his own seeds, chewing them deliberately. Erin heard the telltale puff of air that signaled the seed cannoning out of his mouth to some victim in front of them, making her need to stifle her giggles at the confused face he made.
“Game on...” Chance challenged her, making it that much harder to hide her laughs. Finally, when she could control the giggles enough, Erin hissed gleefully, "Cha-ance! Fine! You have to give me more, though." She smirked and held out her hand, and Chance obliged, giving her a tiny mountain of seeds in her open palm. That's better! she thought at him in an approving smile, ignoring the spilt seeds and little complaints for them to hush. Chance had to point out his clumsiness, making Erin start giggling again as she watched him replenish his own ammo. She started preparing her own seeds for competition, and by preparing, it was sucking on them and chewing them until her aim was ready. And if she timed it right, Erin could compete her shots with Chance's to see whose went farthest, aimed closest, and all that mess. She watched him for a cue.
Instead, through a mouthful of seeds, Chance leaned over and asked, “If I win, can I have one kiss with cute Asian?”
His words were muffled and distorted, but she heard him, and had a hard time keeping the seeds in her own mouth when she started laughing again. "No!" she retorted playfully, shoving the seeds out of the way with her tongue. "You have to find your own cute person!" she added with a smug smile, then gestured with a glance toward a girl two seats over from Chance's first target. A silent challenge lay in her closed smile, distorted with the effort to position the organic ammo. A second or two later, the blonde target let out a little squeal of surprise and looked around. Erin started giggling too much for her own good, so she buried her face on Chance's shoulder, hoping it would muffle her enough.

Instead of starting the game, though, he turned to Erin and said through his seedlings, “If I win, can I have one kiss with cute Asian?”
Erin couldn't resist another rolling laugh, her own seeds threatening to slip out of her mouth, making Chance grin. "No!" she retorted playfully, shoving the seeds out of the way with her tongue. "You have to find your own cute person!"
"But I did, you sillyhead!" he teasingly shoved her back, then turned his attention to the unsuspecting blond girl a few seats over that would be their first victim. A second or two later, the target let out a little squeal of surprise and looked around. Erin started giggling too much for her own good, so she buried her face on Chance's shoulder. Letting out a hard-gutted chuckle of his own, he started coughing gruffly into his hand - he'd swallowed a few of his seeds.
"I'm fine, I swear," he growled in a strained voice, earning a few more 'ssh!'s from neighbors. "Now.." he turned around, doing as much of a 360 as his neck would allow before sending Erin a grin and shooting a couple of seeds in her forehead, leaning back to be out of range and shot a couple down the aisle, hitting some young kid in the leg with his shot. "Double!" he hissed excitedly, raising both fists halfway up in a little jubilation in the dark theater. "Hey, everyone here is free game, girlie."

"You have to find your own cute person!" Erin declared at Chance's ridiculous game-winning ultimatum.
Chance let out a solid guffaw before he started half-choking. Erin lifted her head, hand tight across her mouth to seal still-bubbling laughs, and cocked her head curiously at him in the half-dark.
"I'm fine, I swear," he growled in a strained voice, earning a few more 'ssh!'s from neighbors.
Somewhat seriously, and somewhat teasingly, and both with a confused expression of uncertainty, Erin patted his back a few times, right below his neck since it was all she could really reach with the whole sitting-in-a-theater-seat thing happening. "You gonna make it through?" she asked, her smile returning fully when she saw he had gotten over it. "Good."
"Now.." Chance continued, turning around with a sly grin. With the remainder of his seeds that didn't go down his throat, Chance nailed a couple of unsuspecting people before Erin could even register their reactions. "Heeyyy..." she whispered in complaint, holding out her hand again in a silent request. "Double!" Chance was hissing excitedly, giving the air a fist pump. "Hey, everyone here is free game, girlie."
By this point, some people were catching onto the fact that all the tiny projectiles were coming from this one really noisy area over here.... Erin could hear their annoyed whispers and threats to one another, and she giggled as she whispered to Chance in turn, "Only if we don't get caught first! Kick in your ninja skills, boy."

"I'm fine, I swear," he growled in a strained voice, earning a few more 'ssh!'s from neighbors as he choked down a few seeds through his laughter. Erin gave his back a few lame pats, obviously more amused than concerned.
"You gonna make it through?" she asked.
He looked up at her, and in a purposefully raspy voice like an old man hacking up a lung, he muttered, "I might live a little while longer, Ethel..."
She smiled through the dark theater at him.
"Double!" Chance was hissing excitedly, giving the air a fist pump, then reaching over to offer more ammo. Then, with a mischievous grin, he spit out the last of his seed so that it bounced swiftly against Erin's round, child-like cheeks. "Hey, everyone here is free game, girlie." Soon, the protests started aiming themselves back at the two of them with increased alacrity. Chance could gauge by their voices that patience was thin enough they ran the risk of getting kicked out. Time for the hardcore games to end.
Erin giggled at the protests as she whispered to Chance in turn, "Only if we don't get caught first! Kick in your ninja skills, boy."
"I..." he murmured dramatically, placing his palms together like a trained Buddhist at work with finding his center, "...Am... guilt. I... am.. innocence. I... am... all things. So you cannot argue with me. I win. " He smirked, "I guess all we can do during the film now is stick gum to people's back or something..." Chance glanced around the dull, strict theater, then turned to her and added with a trace of skepticism, "Do you want to go get a drink with me real quick? I want your opinion on something.."

"Heeyyy..." she whispered in complaint, holding out her hand again in a silent request.
"Double!" Chance pumped his fists in victory, then fulfilled Erin's silent order of more sunflower seeds. Then after a brief pause Erin felt a sharp little ping on her face, and immediately her hand went up to feel the spot he'd hit. "Hey!" she hissed, sending him a pout in the dim light that said, "that's not fair!"
"Hey, everyone here is free game, girlie." Erin just rolled her eyes, a smile returning to her face even as the protests from their targets started coming too often. She giggled at the protests as she whispered to Chance in turn, "Only if we don't get caught first! Kick in your ninja skills, boy."
"I..." he murmured dramatically, placing his palms together in mock prayer. "...Am... guilt. I... am.. innocence. I... am... all things. So you cannot argue with me. I win. " He smirked, and Erin's mouth fell open as though his argument had actual validity."Aww, man!"
"I guess all we can do during the film now is stick gum to people's back or something..." Chance sounded disappointed, and Erin couldn't help but let out another "Awww..."
"Do you want to go get a drink with me real quick? I want your opinion on something.."
"Okay!" Without waiting, she slipped out of the theater and into the hallway, then turned and waited for Chance.

"I guess all we can do during the film now is stick gum to people's back or something..." Chance said, saddened beyond words. Erin 'Awww'ed again at the harshest let-down of his day. Meanwhile, Chance realized that this was an opportunity to finish the dropped conversation of earlier. He turned to Erin and suggested, "Do you want to go get a drink with me real quick? I want your opinion on something.."
"Okay!" she exclaimed without any hesitation - making him smile. They both slipped out of the theater with their snacks and such, and Erin stopped just outside the showroom door. Chance suddenly felt an insupressable urge to grin, and he couldn't stop himself. He waited until they'd gone up and gotten drinks, waving her beside him on one of the little benches they put outside the bathrooms.
Taking a few quick slurps and swinging his legs a bit as he tried not to grin long enough to successfully get the soda from the straw to his mouth, he suddenly turned to her and blurted out, "Erin, I'm in love! I'm in love with Liv and I just...just can't help it!" He laughed.

"Do you want to go get a drink with me real quick? I want your opinion on something.."
"Okay!" Erin piped, slipping out of the theater. She lost Chance behind her in the dark, so she came to a halt at the outside of the theater room. Once he caught up, they went out to get their drinks-- it was pretty ridiculous how much those things cost, and Erin wondered why she'd never noticed before--, Chance waved her over frantically as if he was about to share a deep secret. Her smile blossomed mischievously. She sat down next to him. "What?" she pressed. "What is it already?" He was way too excited for it to be "hey, do you think this shirt clashes with my shoes?" kind of opinion.
Chance took a few gulps of his drink before answering her, as if he was priming himself. Or teasing her. She didn't know which. "Tell meeee!" she prodded, pushing him with her hands.
Finally, he did. "Erin, I'm in love! I'm in love with Liv and I just...just can't help it!" He burst into a laugh that was easily contagious to Erin.
"And you were asking me if I could get you a kiss!! You are ridiculous! You have someone you should be trying to kiss instead! Goof," she told him, giving him another shove. "Have you told her? I bet you haven't told her. Goof. You should tell her! Want me to tell her? When are you telling her? Oh, make a show about it, so it can be a good story for you to tell later!!" She sat up, excited, leaning forward as she rattled off her suggestions.

Chance waved her over frantically, and she sat beside him with a hopeful beam that seemed to light up the room. "What? What is it already?" Chance took a few gulps of his drink before answering her, taking his sweet time. "Tell meeee!" she prodded, pushing him with her hands. He almost spit his drink back out, trying to fend her off and not snort at everything in laughter.
The words came rushing out, sounding so much older than he normally sounded, despite the fact that he felt like a ten year old again, crushing on hot pop artists along with everybody else. "Erin, I'm in love! I'm in love with Liv and I just...just can't help it!" He burst into a laugh that was easily contagious to Erin.
"And you were asking me if I could get you a kiss!! You are ridiculous! You have someone you should be trying to kiss instead! Goof," she told him, giving him another shove as she fell into the common flow of words that the two of them were accustomed to giving to news like this. "Have you told her? I bet you haven't told her. Goof. You should tell her! Want me to tell her? When are you telling her? Oh, make a show about it, so it can be a good story for you to tell later!!" She sat up, excited, leaning forward as she rattled off her suggestions. Chance just shook his head, his face practically splitting from the smile he gave her.
"No, I haven't told her, but I want to so badly! It's like, we'll be sitting there talking about her art or music or something like that, and, like, I suddenly have this urge to go over there and just hold her and tell her how beautiful she is, you know? And I keep trying to find some excuse to kiss her on the cheek, or sit closer to her, or hear her laugh or...or...like, anything!" He took another sip of his drink, the chuckle faltering away to a more somber tone as realization set in slowly, his swinging legs coming to a slow stop. "But it's complicated, you know? It's like..I know she's never thought of me that way, because I've asked her, and..I don't know.. I've always been 'the gay guy' to her. The one who debates with her on who is the best-looking guy in a band and stuff, you know? It makes it hard to tell her that I think she's the best-looking of them all, and that being around her almost makes me forget the band is even playing. I don't know if it's all that 'forever and ever' crap, or if that even exists, but.." he let out a sigh, his shoulders drooping, a blissful gleam starting to creep into his eyes, "But I wanna try with her, you know? Without ruining the trust she has in me. Erin.." he looked over and met her eyes, "She's told me things she would never tell anyone else. At least..that's what I think. But I don't know if she told me that because she knows how much I care, or if she knows I wouldn't use it against her in the way some guys would...does that make sense?" As he turned away from her, he gave his cheek an absent scratch. "It's just friggen confusing, I've been turning it over and over again in my head for ages now, and I can't make sense of any of it. It's just..hard to figure out myself. What do you think?"

"Erin, I'm in love!" Chance blurted. "I'm in love with Liv and I just...just can't help it!" Both of them easily got caught up in the laughter that came with Chance's bubbly proclamation.
"And you were asking me if I could get you a kiss!!" Erin nearly shouted in her excitement. "You are ridiculous! You have someone you should be trying to kiss instead! Goof,." She gave him a little shove, then the questions started coming. "Have you told her? I bet you haven't told her. Goof. You should tell her! Want me to tell her? When are you telling her? Oh, make a show about it, so it can be a good story for you to tell later!!"
Chance was shaking his head. Why, Erin had no idea. "No, I haven't told her, but I want to so badly! It's like, we'll be sitting there talking about her art or music or something like that, and, like, I suddenly have this urge to go over there and just hold her and tell her how beautiful she is, you know? And I keep trying to find some excuse to kiss her on the cheek, or sit closer to her, or hear her laugh or...or...like, anything!"
"Aww that's so cute!" Erin squealed, clapping her hands before she clamped them over her mouth as she giggled. Her legs were swinging excitedly back and forth, and anyone who walked in front of her now would probably get kicked in his shin, because she wouldn't notice him coming. "You should tell her that! She'd totally love you forever!"
Suddenly Chance seemed a lot more calm and serious. I don't know if it's all that 'forever and ever' crap, or if that even exists, but.."
"Chance, if you like her, then--"
"But I wanna try with her, you know? Without ruining the trust she has in me. Erin.."
"Why would that mess up trust?" Erin asked, tone and face incredulous.
"She's told me things she would never tell anyone else. At least..that's what I think. But I don't know if she told me that because she knows how much I care, or if she knows I wouldn't use it against her in the way some guys would...does that make sense?"
"Uh-- oh, yeah!" Erin hoped she sounded convincing, because she really didn't follow him this time, and she'd rather not say that, especially when she was sure he felt like he needed her to understand.
"It's just friggen confusing, I've been turning it over and over again in my head for ages now, and I can't make sense of any of it. It's just..hard to figure out myself. What do you think?"
"If you like her, then do something about it," Erin responded quickly, almost sternly. "You can't help what she does, but maybe you're what she needs or something, and that's why y'all've already clicked together so well already. I mean, you're not the only one who's been in the same situation, you know? Maybe she won't expect it and maybe she will, I dunno what goes on in her head, but Chance, I can see how totally excited you are and how much even talking about her makes you happy. So do something about it before you explode or something!" She grinned at him, giving him another shove with her shoulder.

Chance considered this for a moment, speaking uncharacteristically slowly, "She's told me things she would never tell anyone else. At least..that's what I think. But I don't know if she told me that because she knows how much I care, or if she knows I wouldn't use it against her in the way some guys would...does that make sense?" "Uh-- oh, yeah!" He took another sip from his soda, considering. "That makes sense... Hmmm.. and exploding isn't a good thing, after all..." he giggled, then leapt up from the bench, "Hey, let's go try on clothes at Walmart and leave them in random places! This movie was so last year, anyways!" Without waiting for her leave, he grabbed her hand and started racing toward the door, letting out a whoop of delight that made several of the employees send him looks. "I'll totally have you back here by the time Fox comes around, I promise!"
Chance is done here - do you realize we've done about 2 pages of stuff for this interaction? lol

He smiled back, letting her half-shove him off the bench. When he could, Chance took another sip from his soda, making him quiet for another moment. It was definitely the quietest Erin could remember him in a long time... which only meant that Erin had been right. "That makes sense..." Chance decided after a minute.
"Of course it does," Erin retorted lightly.
"Hmmm.. and exploding isn't a good thing, after all..."
"Unless your name is St. Helen, I guess," she giggled, but Chance was already done with that and moving on.
"Hey, let's go try on clothes at Walmart and leave them in random places!" The sudden suggestion made Erin burst into laughter as she hopped up from the bench, too.
"This movie was so last year, anyways!"
"So 1986!" Erin called back, racing after Chance.
"I'll totally have you back here by the time Fox comes around, I promise!"
"You better!" she yelled back in laughter, not a serious note in her voice.
Erin is done here, as well!
