El. Oh. El. This was probably one of the most FUN things I have ever written. XD And that's saying a lot. I wrote this one-shot because GG texted me this morning saying, "Write me a Yukirin one-shot. Of their engagement party, on the beach with a bonfire. And truth or dare. > : D" And I was like, "Hurhurhur...."
I apologize in advance if any of the half dozen borrowed characters for this end up unbelievable or out of character, but it was SO tempting, and I wanted everyone to take part and have fun in it. XD I only wish I could have incorporated more characters!

"Yukirin's Engagement Party"
Also known as:
"The Bonfire Party"
Also known as:
"I Solemnly Swear That I'm Up To No Good."
Peals of laughter accompanied Erin's form bumping into Yukito's, tackling him in a hug and knocking them both down into the sand. He protested loudly, even as a smile threatened to rip his face in two, and his hands found her navel to give her a tickle that had her doubled over and wriggling around uncontrollably. “Yukito-o-o!” she whined through giggles, trying to get him back, but he pushed her off and stood up, going back to the car for the last load of soft drinks from the car. A few feet more, and she tackled him again, this time surprising him so that he fell face-first, coming up spluttering.
“Erin!” he growled, spitting sand as she giggled, still wrapped around him.
“Just a few rounds? Ple-e-ease? For me? It's a party, after all,” she coaxed, “We should play games! That's what parties are for!”
“I love that you think that,” Yukito rolled his eyes, noting how different Erin's parties were from ones he'd grown up with. All the youthful enthusiasm, oh yes, but Erin had none of the intoxication. He lifted the remaining soft drink boxes from the Volvo, ignoring Erin's continuing pout. There was a blazing bonfire burning, creating a warm illumination on the dark beach, and a few feet away a wide canvas tent someone had brought in case another one of the hazy drizzled returned that had been plaguing the party-hungry group for the last week, and Yukito stood just beneath it and set down the boxes, letting out a surprised curse as he felt a chilly finger trace a gentle circle on his stomach, finding Erin had slipped her hand in while he was bent over to tickle at the tattoo there shaped like a treble clef. He jumped and grabbed her wrist, feeling his heart skip a beat as she giggled aloud, wagging her finger in front of him teasingly, “I know your spots,” she grinned, “And this is supposed to be a fun engagement party, so let's play a game!”
“If you don't,” came Chance's smug comment from the back of his truck, video camera held high, “We have ways of making you join in.”
Erin let out a squeal, holding out a hand to the video camera, and Yukito arched an eyebrow as Erin careened into him with a bounce, saying, “Kareshi! Let's play truth or dare!”
“I don't think so, I have a bad--”
“You suck the fun out of everything!” she whined, frowning.
“C'mon, Erin, if he doesn't join in, we'll just make a rule that every dare has to do with him.” Chance counted out his list on the fingers of his free hand, “'I dare you to switch clothes with Yukito'...'I dare you to give Yukito a piggyback'...'Reinact a Michael Jackson video pretending Yukito is your love interest for the song'...'I dare you to--”
“Fine, fine, fine,” Yukito grumbled, as Erin gave a few hops and followed him to the nearby bonfire, where several people were already gathered, including Shelby and her boyfriend Preston, Cassie, her roommate Lilith, and Kagayaki. Chance was over in the corner, pointing the camera at his girlfriend Liv, who looked as though she'd rather him do anything besides film her. “Are your parents here yet?” Yukito asked Erin, who was distracted by Preston, who within a few minutes acquaintance had acquired access to Chance's constant stash of water guns and had decided to chase the Wright sisters with it, the redheads shouting at him between squeals and laughter, ducking behind ice chests and tables.
“Hey-lo, my devoted set-up-for-a-party-party!” Chance called out, handing off the video camera to Liv, who held it with wide, unsure eyes and instinctively trained it on her boyfriend as he walked to the center of the canvas tent, arms wide, “We're gonna play a little truth or dare, so everyone has to join in! Come oooon...before the rest of the party gets here and you all get too embarrassed!” Chance plopped down on the sand, legs crossed, as other drew chairs or joined him on the ground. A few more protests and the last of the teenagers were into a circle. “Kayaki, could you turn the music up a bit higher? I can hardly hear it... Come on, now, Shelby, bring over the snacks and we'll put them in the middle. I know Erin wants to eat all the cookies.” Erin took three, one for pushing at Yukito, who looked questionably at the brightly decorated pile of sugar. “Here are the rules – as if we need them – only three truths in a row, so we get some tasty dares around here--”
“And vise versa,” added Cassie, her lips pursed.
Chance rolled his eyes, sighing as though this was a terrible proposition. “Fine, but also, if you come across a dare you don't wanna do, or a truth you don't wanna answer, you have to take a drink.”
“Of what?” blurted Erin, as Preston came back from Chance's truck. Chance jumped up with a little squee, taking the bottles from him and setting them next to the snacks. A few of the girls looked skeptically at the alcohol.
“I dunno...” Erin murmured, positioned so she was sitting propped up by Yukito, who sat cross-legged and at his ease.
“We are expecting Erin's parents in about an hour...” Yukito added as a caution.
Chance didn't even blink, scoffing at their fussiness. “Oh, don't worry, it's just a few wine coolers. They're mostly peach juice. They have them at parties all the time. It'd take at least two to make a light-weight woozy. And it's really just there so people don't wimp out on the game.” Chance took a look around, then, spotting Liv hovering off to the side with the video camera in her hands. He pouted, “Liiiiv! Come sit next to meee!”
“Turn the camera off while we are playing,” Yukito added, not liking the little red light one bit.
“That's half the fun!” Lilith teased, though her embarrassed giggle revealed her own misgivings.
“Okay, okay, are we ready to start?” Chance was bouncing as Liv came to kneel beside him, the camera turned off at her side.
“Wait,” Cassie added quietly, “Could I add a rule?” She flushed when the party's eyes fell on her, her voice dropping as she added, “Um...nothing... sexual. Please.”
Erin glanced up at Yukito, whose lips seemed to be pressed a little tighter than usual, and most looked down at their hands. Chance seemed lost for a moment, looking from Liv to Cassie, then licked his lips and gave a nod, “Reasonable enough. Let's start, then. I say we begin with our lovely young couple, the beee-you-tiful Erin and Yukito!” There were a few claps, and Erin let out a giggle, throwing her arms around Yukito's waist from her half-lying, half-leaning place.
“Soon to be Mr and Mrs Maki!” added Lilith with a giggle.
“Or would that be Maki-san and Maki-san?” wondered Shelby, one finger on her chin. Preston let out a snort at that.
“Okay, then, I'll ask first,” Lilith asked, “Erin...”
“Yes!” Erin chirruped, halfway sitting up from her position.
“Truth or dare?”
“Um...Dare!” She punched the air a little, “Darin' Erin!”
“I dare you to....sing for the rest of the game.”
“What? Oh, fine...” She seemed disappointed by the dare, rolling her eyes and singing, “I meaaaan...oooooh fiiiiine!”
“Nice,” Yukito said with a chuckle, before Erin turned on him.
“How about you? I mean...” she sang out in a falsetto, “How about youuuuu?! Truth or...” She hit a higher note, arms spread wide, “DAAAAARE?!”
Yukito winced at her loud note, earning an arm slap, then murmured, “Hmm...truth. Because Erin did a dare.”
Shelby queried, “Have you ever bought anything at a lingerie store?” There were a few snorts around the circle, but Shelby practically glared at Yukito, who held a calm expression but had obviously colored.
“Oooh...deep one.” Preston said, his arm around her shoulders. Shelby stuck her tongue out at him, muttering something and calling him Mustang under her breath.
“Yes.”
At least half the party fell over in laughter, and Erin sat up and gave Yukito an aghast look, “What did you buy?!”
But Yukito, grinning and blushing simultaneously, leaned forward and grabbed a cracker, practically singing as he told her, “One question allowed. Someone's elses turn.”
“Meaner!” Erin gave him a few slaps on the arm, almost making him choke on his cracker as Chance turned to Liv with a grin, asking her if she would take a truth or a dare.
“Um...dare,” came her quiet, accented response, but she was smiling, too.
“Remove an article of clothing from the player on your left with your teeth,” Chance said with a grin, making gasps around the room. It took most of them about four seconds to realize that Chance was sitting on her left.
“Nice one, hotshot,” said Cassie with a roll of her eyes. He just responded with a shrug. Liv stared at him wide-eyed.
“I'll make it easy. I got a wristwarmer on, see?” He held out his wrist for her to take, and Liv looked around the circle for a moment, gave a giggle, then leaned forward to bite into the cloth wrapped around Chance's wrist. As soon as she got a grip on it, Chance started gasping and fanning himself, making everyone – including Liv – start to laugh.
“Oh mah...oh mah...” he said in a dramatic accent, “I jes' cain't STAND it!”
Liv's eyes sparkled, but she somehow managed to control herself enough to yank the wristwarmer off, earning a round of applause from around the circle. Chance was next.
“Dare me, babeh!” he proclaimed, to which Cassie told him to swap clothes with anybody in the circle, a truth-or-dare staple. He looked around the group for a moment, hand on his chin, then turned and pointed, saying, “My maaaan Erin! The new Boy George! Sing yourself over here!”
Giggling uncontrollably, Erin stood up and slipped off her thin jacket and shoes, “Now what?”
Chance rolled his eyes, but saw Yukito's face and knew they'd choose the modest way out, “Come on, we'll bring Liv and she can swap our clothes for us. We'll change between the cars.”
“Haha...okay!” Erin scooped up her shoes and jacket and raced across the sand after him.
“Be right back!” Chance called over his shoulder, as they vanished under the dim illumination of twilight.
After they were gone, Preston murmured aloud, “Did they say anything about no underwear?”
Yukito leapt to his feet, bellowing toward Chance's truck, “NO UNDERCLOTHES!”
High-pitched laughter was his only reply, and Yukito sank back to the sand, simmering.
“Cassie...next,” Kagayaki commented, sitting across from her and offering a shy little smile.
“Yeah, let's do Cassie while we wait,” Lilith agreed, turning to her roommate, “Truth or Dare, Cassie-Andra?” The nickname was a recent one, a teasing one that made Preston chuckle.
“Um...truth..?”
Lilith tapped her expressive lips thoughtfully, then asked, “Do you have a crush on someone right now?”
For a long moment, Cassie didn't answer. Kagayaki looked down at the sand at his knees, as though willing himself to sink into it. Yukito kept glancing over toward the cars. Then, silently, Cassie reached out and opened one of the wine-coolers, taking a sip with a grim expression.
“Oooooh!” came the collective exclamation, and Preston gave a gleeful little clap.
“Nice, Cassie-andra,” he commented, as Chance suddenly burst into the middle of the circle, kicking sand over some of the snacks and clinking a few bottles with Erin's slip-on shoes ill-fitted to his feet. Her top hung loosely around his shoulders, the scoop neck laughable as he waved his arms wildly, the jackets' sleeves pulled over his hands so they looked like flippers. Several people fell over again as Chance swished his hips in the skirt Erin had been wearing, the plaits waving at them and revealing that he was, in fact, still wearing his boxers. Yukito visibly relaxed, making Erin's entrance more easily received, in his mind. She waltzed in, shaking her hips in the white wife-beater and patched jeans, obviously cut for a scrawny boy's needs. The colorful tennis shoes were much to big, and she only made it to the group before kicking them off next to Yukito.
“Soooo...” sang Erin, flopping down into her previous spot and cradling her chin in her palms, “What did we miiiiiss?”
“Cassie copped out of her question by taking a drink,” Lilith announced, making Chance give a little sound of delight as he sat back down, pulling Liv into his lap. “So now is my turn, and I choose dare.”
“Aww...I was hoping you'd choose truth,” Cassie murmured, then added, “Kiss someone in the circle.”
Lilith rolled her eyes, “Cheek or lips?”
“Or other?” Chance couldn't help adding.
“Whichever,” Cassie finished.
Lilith pulled her knees a little tighter to her chest, inspecting their little group with curiosity. For some reason, no one seemed safe, and most of them shifted a little awkwardly under her gaze. Then, she leaned forward and suddenly grabbed the collar of a very surprised Kagayaki, pulling him into a long kiss, her head tilting to the side as she deepened the kiss. She hesitated as she pulled away, giving him a little smile, patting his head, and going back to her spot amidst Chance's croons and giggles from most of the girls. Kagayaki seemed stunned, looking over at Yukito and Erin after a moment. Yukito just laughed a little and gave him a thumbs up, with Kagayaki returned with a glazed look before looking back at the sand in front of him.
“Preston's tuuuuurn!” Erin sang out, to go with her dare, and Preston sat up a little straighter and announced he wanted a dare, too.
“Okie-dokie,” Chance pulled a quarter out of his pocket, “Heads right, tails left. You have to lick the palm of the person on you-u-ur...” he flipped the coin, caught it and slapped it down on his wrist, then lifted his hand and announced, “Right!”
Everyone glanced up and looked between Lilith, Preston, and Shelby. Preston gave a shrug, holding his calloused hand out to accept Lilith's pale one, while Shelby looked torn and wouldn't meet anyone's eyes. Preston gave Lilith's hand a sizable lick in the middle of her palm, making her giggle and say it tickled, then he turned to Shelby, “Truth or dare, Ed?”
“Truth,” Shelby murmured, focusing her intention on getting herself some chips, her face looking stony. Preston cuddled closer to her, and Yukito wrapped his arms around Erin, clasping his fingers together and starting to sway with her.
“You having fun yet?” he whispered quietly into her ear, as Erin leaned into him and smiled.
“Ye-e-e-s...” she murmured, drawing out the word into a bouncy little tune. “I always have fun with yo-o-o-ou...”
“Me, too,” he told her nuzzling her.
Back in the game, Liv queried, “Why does he call you 'Ed'?”
Shelby flushed a little, but with a little smile as she leaned back against Preston. “He calls me Ed because I call him Mustang. Like from Fullmetal Alchemist.”
“That's a nice little complex, way to promote smut pairings,” Lilith teased, having watched a few episodes. Preston just stuck his tongue out at her, laughing. “Why not Ed and Al?”
“Well...” Shelby hesitated, but Preston took over for her boldly.
“Because she already has an Al, and she carries him in her backpack all the time. It's like glued to her wrist. Plus, Ed is a bit moody.” He patted Shelby's head as she took her turn at sticking out her tongue.
“That leaves Kagayaki,” Lilith said in a teasing tone. The Japanese boy had been sitting very quietly all evening, and now he felt the stares of everyone again, making him smile shyly.
“Um... okay... eto...dare.” Several whoops let out and a few surprised looks were sent his way.
“Really, now?” Yukito said with a grin. “Then I dare you to snort like a pig for thirty seconds.”
Giggles accompanied this proclamation, but Kagayaki nodded in determination. Once he started in on the snorts, everyone fell over once again, knocking sand into the remainder of the snacks. Lilith timed him, counting down the seconds as Kagayaki struggled harder and harder to continue the pig-sounds without falling into laughter.
“Three...two..one!” Lilith shouted, as everyone tumbled over clutching their sides. “Beautiful!”
“Yeah, Kayaki!” Chance giggled and snorted, wiping a tear from his eye, “That was brilliant!”
Kagayaki, looking very pleased with himself, took a drink from his soda, almost choking as he tasted sand in it.
“Someone give me a really good dare,” Erin complained, forgetting once again that she had been instructed to sing everything the whole evening.
“Convince Yukito to take off his shirt,” Cassie dared, a knowing look on her face as she met Erin's eyes.
Waiting for a dramatic pause as everyone smiled over at Yukito, Chance took a slow drink from the abandoned wine cooler, then smoothly added, “Or take off yours.”
“Hey!” Erin protested, whirling over to look at Chance so fast her hair whipped around her face.
“You basically just did Erin's job for her,” Lilith giggled from behind her cookie. The others had to agree. Yukito's face dropped into a scowl, until a chant started up, “Do it! Do it! Do it!”
Erin looked over at Yukito, pouting, “I wanted a good one!” But all she had to do was sit up before Yukito, afraid she was reaching for the bottom of the shirt she'd borrowed from Chance, snapped out a quick, “Fine, I'll do it,”
Erin moved away a little, her brow furrowing, “Yukito..”
A few whoops from the others, and Yukito sat up on the balls of his feet, pulling off his thin jacket and grey t-shirt, dropping them to the sand between them all. Chance started clapping and Lilith put two fingers in her mouth and let out a piercing whistle that echoed across the beach. Yukito sat back, hands on his knees, and looked over at Erin. She could see he was beet-red across his face, but even so, he smiled at her, cupped her face in his hands and kissed her deeply, getting Chance so worked up he almost knocked Liv to the ground as he stood up to give a standing ovation, clapping hard while the others joined in with giggles and shakes of their heads. Erin smiled into the kiss, falling back on the sand with Yukito hovered over her, reluctant to pull away.
“Ahem...I, uh, see the party has started without us,” came a voice, making them all look up to see Erin's father standing on the edge of the firelight, holding several grocery bags and followed closely by his intensely-amused wife. After a moment, everyone looked back toward the couple of the hour, Yukito still poised over his fiancee on the sand, shirtless while Erin wore Chance's clothes. Yukito looked over to meet Erin's sparkling eyes, mouthed a choice word that sent her into uncontrollable giggles, then moved away.
And as he sat up, flushed, and as Erin brushed the sand out of her hair, Yukito could help but start to think about how he couldn't have imagined a better engagement party for them. He smirked over at her, brushed her hair out of her face, and joined in the laughter aimed at the flummoxed look on Mr. Spenser's face.
“I suppose there is a perfectly reasonable explanation for this other than...” Jacob Spenser paused, looking within the circle, and adding, “Is that... alcohol?”

“I suppose there is a perfectly reasonable explanation for this other than...” Jacob Spenser paused, looking within the circle, and adding, “Is that... alcohol?”
