TPO is The Phantom's Opera, it's a website with a huuuuge roleplaying section. It's were I got started in RP. : ) The RPG is set in modern day Paris, mostly revolved around the Opera Populaire. Mysty, it's your Mascii!!! *glomps* Mysty, I am so, so sorry to hear about your sister! I would hate to lose any of my sisters. : < It is good to know she went in her sleep, though. That is some consolation. May she rest sweetly in peace. <3 And we will gladly keep you occupied with roleplay interactions, sweet Cady Lady! You name the place and as soon as you are approved we can begiiiin... And you know, this shall be interesting, since Lilith and Trent are kind of starting a thing right now. It's a kind of hate/love relationship where they tease each other constantly even though they like each other. Tossing Easy into the mix makes me chuckle, just thinking of it. I may even try another charrie of mine with your baby, and see what happens. Maybe he'll end up together with one of the others! <33 I miss Easy, and I miss mah Cady Lady.... I hope everyone had a very Merry Christmas!! I told mom I wanted two things - Ponyo DVD, and black and white striped stockings, and I got both, so I am a very happy camper! Squeeeeeeee.... (Mom gave me such a weird look when I told her. XD "You want a kids' movie and long socks??") *tugs on Mysty's sleeve* I have been meaning to ask you for music recommendations. I have my own computer (at laaaaaast!) and have TONS of space for music! : DD

Thank you for all of the feedback, including your very kind and thoughtful words. Mom and I have rather desperately tried to keep our minds busy so that we do not brood too much about this loss. We have so many funny stories to share about her and all of the things she could come up with. I fully understand about being a dinotyke. Back when I was 4, people would ask, "What do you want to be when you grow up~a mommy or a nurse?" My parents said that I would reply, "I am going to be a paleontologist and go to the desert to work with Roy Chapman Andrews." They said that the stunned look on people's faces was so funny and that they figured people never responded because they didn't want to ask a little girl what the heck a paleontologist was! Almost always, they said, the people simply would say, "Oh." I still love dinosaurs, and it would have turned out to be a great field for me to have gotten into, as it's grown throughout the decades. My second choice was parapsychology when I was about 10. However, back then, only a couple of colleges offered courses. Now, it's a wide-open field. Oh well... I did come up with some ideas about the house where Easy would be residing and would hope he would have visitors. I did pick the Lower Gardens. I actually found a house that is in that region and tried to select rooms Rafe Chancery would "be partial to". Here's the link: i85.photobucket.com/albums/k76/cynsemele/LowerGardenDistrictNewOrleansHOMEOFCHANCEEASY.jpg Again, I'd really like it to be a place he could invite people to though I'm sure that he would feel awkward about it, as he's from a very poor background till only a couple of years ago. He still hasn't adjusted to living with wealth. NPCs: I love that! It's reminiscent of Alter Egoing, and I certainly can adjust to just dealing with Easy's POV. That's no problem at all. Yes, during my reading, I've been seeing how NPCs are used. I prefer that because it can bring a scene to life much more, beyond the one-on-one scenes. TPO is The Phantom's Opera, which is where I "met" Mascii and MTM. For all I know, there might be other former TPOers here. Mascii and I have missed Easy/Lilith interaction so much; she hoped that I could get here. The two of them had a truly heartwrenching parting scene when Mascii had "Lily" (Cat's name for her) stop by Sanctuary (the house three of them shared) during the long-postponed housewarming. Easy had two housemates: Lilith and Iah Raksha, who was one of the head chefs at Opera Populaire. Sadly, Pyromaniac departed, too, taking two wonderful characters with her. I've missed them sooooo much. TPO has been unbearably quiet, and I thought I'd take the time to come here. I really need to keep my mind occupied as much as possible. I've submitted three of my characters to see who might fit in here. I'm tempted to add a couple of other possibilities. This is such a different RP environment that I'm not sure who will work the best. EDIT: After I posted, I saw that Mascii had submitted a post. So, some information is repeated for that reason. Easy and Lilith might not get together here?! Oh dear... Maybe he WILL meet someone else or remain a very pouty, miserable Cat. I have fears that he's going to have to go to the high school and will feel uncomfortable because of his age though he can look younger. I considered that he might have caught up enough to attempt college then thought, "Nah! Easy is not accustomed to being a scholar and even tutors probably wouldn't help that much." So, what do you think? Why can I picture him "playing hooky"? I wasn't sure which characters to try and have many others I can provide applications for. Music recommendations... That's a toughie for me because I have so many types I love: * traditional/folk/ballads (Irish, English, Scottish and Welsh mainly, plus the sounds that traveled across the ocean to such places as the Appalachians and Cape Breton) * ethnic music of various countries, including Greece and Middle East * Heavy Metal till about the mid-Eighties, which was when MTV deserted hard rock (Yes, I'm a headbanger though I have to watch the neck-action.) * musicals (naturally) * Sixties ~ This has to be one of the most amazing decades of music, with a wide span of sounds and some of the greatest vocalists ever. It's been said that, when studying the Sixties, one shouldn't look to movies and literature; music is the story of that decade. * movie scores/soundtracks (rarely any "songtracks") * some classical I could make looooong lists of performers/groups if you're interested. My music collection includes vinyl, 8-tracks, cassettes and CDs. I don't "do" ipod and all of those little gadgets; I barely do CDs, only if I can't find it on cassette or even a record. EDIT for MASCII: I was reading scenes at the bookstore and saw that Lilith mentioned her meeting with Caden in Paris. Were we going to write as if she and Easy haven't met? I was just curious how much of her Paris life is mentioned/recalled. We also had the beginnings of a friendship between Raven and Lilith. A fresh start could be very interesting.

Okay, wow. I checked out TPO and was pretty much blown away by the extensive role-playing section. I'm tempted to join (since I have a feeling senioritis might finally best me this semester, since it's my last one of high school...I CAN SEE THE LIGHT AT THE END OF THE TUNNEL!) but I'm afraid with so many character it would be way too hard for me to a) jump into the swing of things and b) submit a character of my own that isn't similar to one already on the site, either with personality, name, or AI. But I could always change my mind. You never know. Dinotyke! Love that word. ^___^ I think I went from wanting to be a paleontologist to wanting to be a librarian or something of the sort, to wanting to be a writer. Since I was eleven, though, it's been clear to me that I want to be an actress, so I'm working towards that. I've got auditions for a handful of musical theatre programs at colleges coming up, starting in just over two weeks. *nervous* And now, for my updated list: Library for MtM (Cassie/Raiu) Multi-Purpose Room for Mascii (Shelby/Preston) Baskin-Robbins for MtM (Shelby/Clarence)

TPO does put forth a major challenge when creating characters. They've even created a list of how many dancers, stagehands, etc., are allowed in order to put some control into it. My Dorian Grayson, a con man to the bone, is a janitor, figuring that, being on the custodial staff, he will have access to practically every place. He's quite a rogue. I actually considered bringing him here, but I'm not sure that would work out as well as Easy and Golden, for example. I admit that I miss the signatures/banners showing what the character looks like. I have to be honest and admit that I haven't heard of most of the AIs and will have to look for images of them.
As for getting into the flow of RPing there: Generally, they are very welcoming, and newcomers receive many invitations for scenes. Lately, it's been trickier keeping a meeting going since everyone seems to be busy with school, work and life in general. I thought if I mixed the two it would be possible to get more writing done.
As for my longed-for careers, I went through paleontology, parapsychology, library science and teaching. Sadly, after becoming very ill during a bout of the flu, I never recovered, as it apparently set off the progression of my illnesses. One of the first signs was losing my train of thoughts; imagine going blank in front of a classful of sophomores! Egad! So, my teaching career ended prematurely, and I ended up doing a variety of other jobs, including working for the city newspaper as clerk/typist/unofficial copyeditor and as Quality Control for a printing company. I can be a bit fixated on punctuation, grammar and the rest. You'll know it's my cataract-damaged vision if I have the occasional oops, as everything is verrrry fuzzy much of the time. I'm supposed to have surgery next year, then I should be able to see slightly better.
I can't wait till I have to list scenes, but I'm still awaiting even my first OK for a character, which should be Easy "Cat" Tanner (I hope!).

Yesss...TPO was where old Mascii learned! XD I somehow find it hilarious that you went to check it out, Poppy! It feels like you're going to my old high school or something. The Khanum on there, who is nicknamed KT, was the one who inspired me to first start playing with character banners, and was my first official roleplay interaction. But I didn't fully get it until I roleplayed with Mysty here. XD To be honest, I stopped going to TPO because it was so massive and hard to keep up with, hence my starting other RPGs elsewhere that is smaller and more easy-going. : ) So my site PF is a result of that, and, kind of, this site. XD I know it's much smaller than TPO but it's easier for newcomers to come in and not be too overwhelmed, plus for people who have to juggle real life a lot it seems more lax. *shrug* Mysty, I haven't used Lilith very much at all since TPO. I used her mostly in AU 18th-19th century setups where I couldn't use TPO pasts, and I haven't actually decided how much of Cat she has in her past in this RPG. XD We can have them remember, if you like. It'll definitely add a twist to her current stuff with Trent, who likes her. XD It seems like Lilith is always in a love triangle, doesn't it? She was being pursued by two redheaded men in the Victorian RPG on PF. XD My sister's Adder Napier, who is a conniving sorcerer, and Nicolas Dubon, a nobleman. Lilith is just destined for agony in love. Hurhur. If you like, Mysty, you can email RPG me some Cat/Lilith while we wait for GG, who is the one who will approve your character, to come back from her Christmas vacation! : DD Meanwhile we can work out how much of Cat was in her past and all. I really just threw mention of Caden in for fun, and I don't *think* I mention their engagement. Hurhur...if that was kept I would be positively giddy! Guess what, Mysty? The main RPGers on this board are Mtm(More Than Music, my sister), GGJ5, Poppy(PhantomOfParis) and myself. I believe I brought MtM onto TPO into roleplaying, and I made PF where Poppy and GG both roleplayed first. So in a sense, you brought all of us into roleplaying, because you brought me in and I brought them. LOL! Aren't you proud?? And I want Cat. *grabs* Pleeeeeease?? I will text GG and let her know you have charries waiting approval, and I will mention a Trent/Lilith/Cat love triangle and see if she is interested. I think proud, cocky Trent will be thrown if Lilith and Cat have a romantic past! Hurhur...Even though they seem to be - quite tragically - one of those couples that try and try and try to get together but have little chance of actually getting married or anything. But I lahve them so... *hugs Easy and ruffles his hair* LE GASP. I want Yukito to meet Easy! *falls over laughing* It will totally freak him out! XD Yukito is, by nature, not a touchy guy, and seeing Easy's....lol....ease...will make him uncomfortable, I think. Though a friendship is not totally out of question, so I am curious. OKAY OKAY. Done with this comment! I swaaaare...

Poppy PM'd me and suggested that Cassie and Easy meet, especially because Cassie and Lilith are roommates. If we do keep Easy and Lilith having a past, it would put a whole different spin on it. To have a past or not is a major decision here. I'm OK either way. So, this will be a reunion or a first-time meeting.
I, too, want Yukito and Easy to meet! Would Easy misinterpret Yukito? We know Easy's history, even with someone like Caden. Yukito is non-touchy; Cat... Uh oh!
I set up a house for Easy to be in because I'd like him to invite friends over. That was what he dreamed of at Sanctuary, but we know how heartbreaking it ultimately was for all three housemates. Presently, I've brought in Eden because others had introduced children and I wanted to see what would happen. It depends on how this is set up: whether Easy does have a son or not. As I said before, I did think of writing a profile for Allegra Zahn. I've never RP'd with a female character on the Net, only in AEing via letters.
Back to Easy: Should I up his age? How much time has passed? Easy would bring with him new skills if this is a continuation of TPO, where he studied ballroom dancing, singing and the violin. He made it to the orchestra and could be headed for the stage if things click into place. That's where Lilith expected him to end up, right? So, will this be Easy with skills or a fairly fresh-from-the-streets Easy. I could see why he would be resentful if he was taken from his relative freedom in Paris back to having a guardian.
Wow! I helped bring them to RPing?! Yes, that does make me proud! I think Pyromaniac had written stories but hadn't RP'd as far as I recall. I've been a trainer for many AEers, ones who had never thought about any sort of RPing. I wish my health would stabilize enough to return to my previous schedule of writing, especially working on stories.
I miss you and MtM at TPO! So many of them seem to have little time or interest. You wouldn't believe the number of stories that got underway rather nicely then were dropped by the other person. It's really shaken my confidence. Even when a story seemed to be developing very nicely... *sigh* I'm becoming rather discouraged about RPing but would like it to be an escape for me. Perhaps this site will help me regain my confidence. Maybe I will feel like part of a community again and not simply on the outskirts waiting for a chance to get into a story that will keep developing.
I'm really looking forward to seeing how Easy will fit in and would happily bring in others if allowed. In AEing, each of us has a cast of characters, so I have a looseleaf-notebookful of them. I imagine that Easy will be the one most often used, but I might be surprised.

Hmmmm I think this has become a spam thread. Mind you, I <3 Mysti and Mascii for their wordiness, but this is starting to look like a set of email replies, and it's killing my attention span for large blocks of text. xD Just wait. Sensei will get back and be all wordy with you. Betcha. I only owe at Cassie's Dad's... Posted! Starting to get back on top of my rpgs, so if someone (PRONGSIE/MASCII/JAMSIE/RYUUZAKI EEEEEEH) wants to start that Yukito/Katrina playdate, you can.

Ouch! We have not been writing anything that resembles spam, at least by any definition I've ever read. Just about all of what we wrote applies to OOC, including setting up first encounters, so why is that a bad thing? We have to establish where Easy and Lilith are in their development: Have they or haven't they met? All of this generally has been OOC not something to be dealt with in PMs/emails. I stand by what we have written as we attempt to begin RPing. TPO definitely has lengthy OOC posts when stories get going. Also, this saves having to send out PMs/emails to more than one person; that is far too confusing unless plotting some part of the story. This way, I get to contact Polly and Mascii with one message.
I'm still awaiting approval for any of my guys and would like to be officially on site when I start.

Yeaaaah...just because Cyn and I are long-winded, we're still OOC! LOL....We'd get MUCH longer in an email or PM... Those get INSANE. Re: Cat and Lilith: I vote we have it come right off of TPO as close as we can get. If Cat had some formal training in music and dancing, then coming to school (or attempting it) would seem boring to him, and it makes sense to have the difference in freedoms from Paris to NOLA. I have been ambiguous on Lilith's past so far, and only vaguely mentioned Caden, so to have her past catch up with her in the form of Easy Cat would be delicious! X3 I wouldnt' edit his age or anything from what it would have been from before...but perhaps we should pick a period from between when Lilith left Paris to when they meet up again in New Orleans? Like six months or a year or longer, if you think? *shrug* What do you vote on that front? MTM and Poppy: GAAAAH...I forgot TWO playdates?! Eeps....I will need to make another list. lol I vote MTM starts Yukito/Katrina, and I will start Preston/Shelby. The Preston/Shelby stuff was going to be the post-game party idea, yes? Or is my memory failing me yet again? I OWE: Video USA (Alex/ Park (Yukito/Kagayaki/Alex and Chance/Liv) <- One or both of these needs wrapping up, plz.Lilith and Cassie's Apt OMGOSH WHYYYY DIDN'T YOU PROD ME WITH A STICK!?I AM OWED: Cafe du Monde (Lilith/Trent) PLOTTAGE: Yukito/Katrina (where/what was this, again?)Preston/Shelby - Multipurpose room (basketball game plot?)Cat/Lilith (details, mebbeh? You want to pick a thread or wait on that front)<.< Iz dat it?

Yep, you are correct, Preston/Shelby is post basketball game fun. I didn't prod you with a stick about Cassie/Lilith because that would have been painful, and I forgot too. And, as long as we're being all helpful and reminding you, you also owe me for Preston/Shelby riding horses private RP, dear. ^_^ Um...I already posted my list of where I owe, but I can do it again, as to not feel like I've wasted a post. Library for MtM (Cassie/Raiu) Multi-Purpose Room for Mascii (Shelby/Preston) UNLESS Mascii wants to post first, since I realized I was the last person to post there. If you don't, that's cool, I can do it. Just making sure. Baskin-Robbins for MtM (Shelby/Clarence) Cassie's dad's for MtM (Cassie/Kagayaki) *looks at above post again* Haha, Mascii used the word 'delicious' to describe a plot. *snicker snicker*

Where do we find information as to what house number a place should have? I have one put together, where Easy resides with Rafe Chancery, his guardian, and sometimes Chance's business partner, Jamil Mehmet, if he happens to be in town. I searched for and found a house in the Lower Garden District, which turns out to be a good selection of a neighborhood. Now, how do I come up with a house number? Is there a magical, mystical trick to it?
Mascii: As for how much time has passed, it depends on what age they'll be. I want to allow enough time that Easy would have studied and become rather good at the violin, considering he had one of the finest teachers available (thanks to Chancery/Mehmet money). Once we have ages set, I'll know where Easy should be. Of course, I don't mind being hazy on the age of when he started studies and how much he advanced. Easy always has been evasive about his age anyway. Actually, in becoming a ward, he advanced his age somewhat; consider that he doesn't know his actual birth year, and that explains some confusion.

Nope, there's no real rhyme or reason to picking a house number and street name. if you want your charrie to be neighbors with a particular charrie, then just have the house be on the same street, and choose whatever number you want. I just looked up actual street names in the Lower Gardens and country club Gardens district in New Orleans on wikipedia, and then chose whichever street I liked best. It's pretty much up to you. ^_^
My list is the same--I'll try to get a couple of posts done today, but I'm not feeling the greatest (I feel an allergy attack coming on, I blame the warmer weather we've been having) and have cookies to bake and a friend's party to go to around 5, so I might not get as much done today as I'd like. But I'll try my best.
EDIT as of 1/3/11: Posted at Cassie's dads!

Okies, so now that Mysty's character are approved, where should we plot? Do you have any threads that interest you, Cady Lady? And I choose to Play with Cat first, do you want to pick one of my charries to RP with first?

I think I have this on the run. My heart is acting almost like a regular one, with no very scary moments. Also, I was able to sleep six hours in two segments, the most sleep I've had for a couple of weeks. Yea! I'm sure I'm getting close. We're going to run errands tomorrow if I'm still doing as well, so perhaps I'll get to do some scenes tomorrow afternoon. Oops! I mean later today since it's 3:30 a.m. now. Oh dear...
Cassie and Easy will be meeting in Jackson Square, where Easy will be playing violin. // EDIT: I just visited that thread, and Cassie is the final post. Was that meeting cancelled? I think it's dated in September. I thought I'd get a start but figure that I'd better wait till I find out whether or not we can use that one.
Mascii: I'm open for any of your charries to meet any of mine. I thought we would wait on Easy and Lilith meeting just a while. I guess we'll have to see how Cassie and Easy hit it off. I wasn't sure if he would be invited to their place. It would be a shock to the two of them when he walked in, wouldn't it? I wasn't sure if Lilith would come to the square, too, or if we would keep it separate for now.
I'm open for a meeting anywhere. I considered an open post with Raven Corbett doing an autograph session at the bookstore. As for Golden, just about anyplace would be fine with him as he can be such a tourist, including camera at the ready and a supply of maps. Generally, he has a backpackful of items, ready for nearly any situation. Maybe he could be standing somewhere, map spread out, nose to map, trying to figure out where he is/needs to be/wants to go. Of course, he could be at a cafe, as he has quite an appetite, rather an embarrassing one at times. Any ideas are welcome, Mascii.
I'm really looking forward to this weekend, as it has been several weeks since I felt certain that I can get some writing done. ***knock on wood***
EDIT 2: It's possible to have Easy attending the local high school, which he would be doing extremely begrudgingly. He has few good memories of schools, so he just might have a chip on his slouching shoulder at first. It won't matter to him that he has a choice of clothing and isn't raggedy little Alleycat. Mascii and I know very well that he still is that boy not so deep inside. He especially would be upset because he's accustomed to having a lot of free time, as long as he could work around lessons, practices and performances. I imagine that he will be continuing some of his studies in New Orleans if he can track down violin and voice teachers. Who knows? He might try the piano again.
EDIT 3: I have an open post for Raven Corbett at Augustia, where he is holding an autograph session. If anyone would like to meet him, you're welcome! Mascii: I wasn't sure if Lilith might want to make his acquaintance again, as they did get along in Paris. Or, you can treat this as a first meeting. Just leap in if you would like. Are any charries SF/fantasy fans?
Poppy: I'm working on Easy's scene at Jackson Square now that you've given me the go-ahead. My night didn't go as planned, as I had hoped that I would get to do more RPing here and at TPO. I'll try, try again. At least I've been getting some sleep. Yea!
