Character's Name: Cassandra "Cassie" Wright
Character's Age: 16
Appearance: Cassie is pretty but not stunningly beautiful, with friendly blue eyes and red hair that reaches the middle of her back. She used to straighten it, but now she lets it maintain it's natural wavy--sometimes described as 'fluffy'--texture. Thanks to her Irish heritage (on her mom's side), she also has a sprinkling of freckles across her face. Average height, about 5'3". Thin but not scarily so.
Personal Info (likes, dislikes, traits, characteristics, etc): Cassie is semi-popular (B-lister, basically) at her school, and has a great group of friends. While she dislikes most conflict, she is able to stand up for herself and her friends in times of need. Cassie's best friends are Erin Spenser, and her own younger sister Shelby, who is a year and a half younger than she is. However, Cassie and Shelby's formerly healthy relationship has become very strained recently due to the looming divorce of their parents. Cassie loves art, but struggles in a lot of her classes like science and math. She is decent in English, but doesn't enjoy it. The time when she really excels is when she's creating something...sketches, paintings, sculptures, you name it. Cassie's art has been seen in school art shows since the second grade (and she's won numerous prizes in said shows). Although she has some stage fright, Cassie loves singing--her favorite type of music is jazz or big band. Cassie also loves watching movies---Her all-time favorites are 'Sleepless in Seattle', 'Love Actually', and 'Under the Tuscan Sun'.
History/Background Information: Cassie lives in a large, elegant house in the Country Club Gardens area of New Orleans. Her parents are wealthy, but she doesn't always flaunt her status and money at school. She is usually pretty down-to-earth. Her family includes her mom, Kristen, her dad, Mark, her sister Shelby, and her older brother Jake, who is twenty and a sophomore at the University of New Orleans
Cassie used to have a great relationship with her family, but it was one built on lies. It was eventually revealed that her mom, Kristen, had been secretly carrying on an affair with a friend of Cassie's father for over a year. Following this news, Cassie's dad moved out and her parents began the process of filing for divorce. Shelby took this especially hard and underwent a sort of transformation, becoming a much quieter, more sullen version of her old self. She doesn't talk when she can avoid it, much to Cassie's chagrin. Currently, Cassie's mother has custody of the girls, although they visit their dad whenever they can. Cassie seems to have dealt with these blows relatively well, always trying to put on a brave face for her sister, but she is as torn up inside as Shelby is.
Two-Paragraph Sample post:
"Shelby?" Cassie called softly, knocking on her sister's door. "Do you want to do something? You haven't been out of the house in a while...we could go see what's playing over at the theatre, if you wanted...or go to that bookstore you like--what's it called again? August-something?" There was no reply from the other side of the door. Cassie knocked louder, absently straightening the FullMetal Alchemist poster taped to the outside of Shelby's door.
Her knock was only met with silence, and Cassie angrily pulled the door open. She found Shelby lying on her bed facing away from Cassie, her laptop open in front of her. 'What?!" she asked raspily, her voice sounding thick and hoarse from unuse.
Cassie stood helplessly in the doorway. "Nothing."
In the hallway, she brushed past Halina, the shy Polish maid, without a second thought, her mind only on getting out of that coffin of a home. She thundered down the stairs, her shoes making clicks and clacks that sounded as angry as Cassie felt. As she neared the entryway, a note caught her eye--her mother's scribbled handwriting on a hot pink Post-It.
Cassandra and Shelby,
Went out with Mike for the evening. Halina will make you two dinner if you want it, or feel free to order takeout. See you tomorrow morning.
There was no signature.
Cassie crumpled up the note and let it drop from her hand onto the sparkling hardwood floor. Of course.
