Current username: The Phantom of Paris
Character’s name: Yumi Saito
Character’s approx. age: 17 as of May 29th
Character’s physical appearance: Long black hair, framing a heart-shaped face. Gentle brown eyes, quick to show emotion, and a soft smile. On the short side, 157 cm (5'1" inches)
Character's personality: Yumi is for the most part lighthearted, and is quick to show any sort of emotion, whether that be randomness, joy, or depression. Is the type to put her whole heart into anything and everything she does, no matter what the consequences of that may be. Has a tendency to be a bit clingy towards those she cares about, stemming from issues with self-esteem and abandonment.
Yumi is the ex-girlfriend of both Yukito Maki, who she still harbors intense feelings for, and Kagayaki Aidou, whom she broke up with shortly before he decided to come to America. She feels very guilty about how their relationship ended, and wants to try to make things right somehow, for she still cares for him if not in a romantic way. She's heard through the grapevine of Kagayaki and Yukito's friends that Yukito and his current girlfriend were having trouble, so she decided to fly out to America to check it out, in hopes that maybe, just maybe, Yukito will take her back.
Two-paragraph sample post:
The entire plane ride, Yumi's hands had been clenched tightly, gripping the armrests for dear life. Even when the jet lag from the over fourteen-hour flight got to her and she allowed herself a few pitiful hours of sleep, her hands were still locked in that death grip. The noise from the engines of the plane were all too familiar for her...they reminded her of that awful night, the horrible mechanic sounds in the background as Aidousan's desperate voice rang through her ears. And then that crash, that awful crash...She didn't think she'd ever be able to forget that sound.
It was a sound that she heard in her dreams, sometimes.
It's for the best that I'm coming to America, isn't it? I need to be there for Yukito, so that horrible girl doesn't hurt him again...I'm different now, and he is too. Why can't he see that? Why can't he see how much I need him and miss him and...
I would never hurt you like that, Yukito.
Yukito wasn't the only reason for her trip, though. She was worried about Aidousan too. She couldn't stand to leave things the way they had been. If there was some way to make things right, Yumi was going to try to do it for her friend. I just want to make sure he's okay over here...
She tried to hide the anxiousness on her face as she searched the crowd at the baggage claim for Sunnychan and her family. The Americajin had been a foreign-exchange student at Yumi's school and the two had become friends, so Yumi had contacted her and asked if her family would be willing to give her a place to stay while she was in America. They're so nice...I have to find some way to make it up to them for being so generous...
"You lost, sweetie?" the woman who had sat next to her on the plane said, materializing out of nowhere. Yumi jumped and shook her head quickly, not really knowing how to respond. "Iie... N--no, okay am." I need to get Sunnychan to teach me more English, if I ever find her...
"Yumichan!" a familiar voice rang through the air, cutting through all the unfamiliar English. "Over here!"[/i]
Yumi made her way through the crowd, weaving through all the chattering Americajin until she found her friend. "There you are! I was worried for a second!"
Sunny smiled at her, looking more tan than she had in Japan but no different otherwise. "What, you think we would have left without you or something? Relax, Yumichan." She turned to her parents, hovering nearby with bewildered looks on their faces as they watched their daughter and her Japanese friend. "Mom, Dad, here she is," Sunny told her parents in English Yumi barely understood.
"Hajimemashite" Yumi said, bowing politely to Sunnychan's parents. "Good...meet...you," she added, embarrassed of her halting English. "Saito Yumi desu. Am Yumi."
I'm here now, Yukito. I'm here, and I'm waiting.
